Ardent fans of en Inde’s jewelery and co-founders Anupama Sukh Lalvani and Sonal Sood, we are pleased to show the making of their recently opened flagship space, located up a flight of stairs overlooking treetops in the heart of Delhi’s coveted Meherchand Market.
With white luminous flooring and exposed brick walls, the core of the space houses a large immovable concrete block, a permanent structure for the in-house jewelry brand. Established in 2004, the line has gained a loyal following through their ability to embrace modernity in reverence of nature.
The surroundings are an extension of the en Inde woman, personified by owners Anu and Sonal. Neem and Peepul trees appear to flood the space, as an example of their conscious design esthetic; harmonizing nature with the built environment. Rural Naga pottery and banana leaf mats share space with furniture and homeware from Mumbai’s Le Mill. Clothing by designers Pero, White Champa and Rajesh Pratap Singh have been specially curated and remain exclusive to the space. Olivia Dar leather handbags pay heed to the design philosophy of simplicity and quality.
True to their belief in the permanence of change, the space doubles as a gallery and event space. The walls are created to morph, becoming display areas as well as seating. Hosting a diverse range of events within the space is an integral part of the concept, as is showcasing emerging art talent. The en Inde space acts as an evolving platform of curated ideas that encompasses womenswear, jewelry, accessories, homeware, music and books.
